The Orme Sweater Kit

Ewe Felty Thing

The Orme Sweater – a brand new pattern by Nikki Small

This versatile sweater is knitted top-down in the round and has 2 body and 3 sleeve options. Sizes to fit 28″-60″ bust and the yarn used is a DK/Worsted/Aran weight.

These kits are for the Great Orme/Y Gogarth version, which is designed to be slightly oversized with approximately 4 inches/10cm of positive ease.

Cat and Sparrow’s Lone Ranger DK – 246y/225m/100g, 100% Superwash Merino (this is closer to a worsted/aran weight despite meterage and name). This is a very squishy and bouncy yarn which is a delight to work with. Rachael has kindly created 10 colour options for you. Please choose these below along with the bust size required (to fit bust, not sweater measurements – please see additional information for table) and whether you would like the cropped kit of the long kit.

Please note that all kits are hand dyed to order. Please allow up to 2 weeks for dispatch.

The Orme Sweater

Here is the yarn and pattern kit for Nikki Small's newest knitting pattern - The Orme Sweater.

The Orme Sweater/Siwmper y Gogarth is a wide-necked customisable simple sweater, knitted top down in the round.

The Great Orme/Y Gogarth is designed to be slightly oversized with approximately 4 inches/10cm of positive ease. All Cat and Sparrow kits listed are for this version.

The Little Orme/Rhiwledyn is designed to be close to actual body measurements and, although not shaped, should fit to body shape more with approximately 2 inches/5cm of positive ease. We currently don't have any of these kits available, but hope to rectify that soon!

Both sweaters can be made with a choice of two body lengths and any of three different sleeve styles – short, ¾-length and long. You can also create a body length of your very own just by continuing to knit until the length of the sweater is as you desire – why not have a Little Orme dress? For a very oversized sweater with even more positive ease, I would suggest you make a sweater 1 or 2 sizes larger than you would normally make in Great Orme, or 2 to 3 sizes larger in Little Orme.

The Orme Sweater/Siwmper y Gogarth is named after The Great Orme in Llandudno, with the cable cars and trams heading up its sides echoed in the cable raglan design of the sweater. Orme means ‘Sea Monster’ in Old Norse, which also seemed fitting with the colour of my original design (Cat and Sparrow’s Lone Ranger DK in the colourway Thetis). The Little Orme/Rhiwledyn is a smaller promontory on the way out of Llandudno to the East, towards Rhos on Sea.

All kits are hand dyed to order. Please allow up to 2 weeks for dispatch.
