Description

Have you always wanted to try weaving but never had a chance?

Come along and join Nikki to learn the basics of weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom.

What will I be doing?

This half-day course will take you through the basics of weaving on a pre-warped Rigid Heddle Loom. You will be using either an 8″ or 10″ SampleIt rigid heddle loom by Ashford with 100% wool yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners to create your very first piece of weaving.

During the workshop you will learn how to start your weaving, keep your edges neat, and to get a good tension so that your fabric will drape nicely and be consistent. You will take your fanric home with you at the end of the workshop and we will give you some suggestions of how to use it depending on the length that you create on the day.

As with all our Ewe Felty Thing workshops, you get 10% off any purchases made in store on the day of your workshop.

Choose the date and time that suits you from the drop-down list.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials are included in your course price and so you do not need to bring anything with you. We’ll even make sure you have a notebook and pen to help you remember what you’ve done on the day. Refreshments will be provided as well, so please let us know in advance of any particular dietary requirements.

Do I need any previous experience?

None! This course is suitable for complete beginners.

Who is my tutor?

Nikki Small will be leading your workshop. She is the founder of Ewe Felty Thing, and a fibre artist and designer based in North Wales. She is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher with a love of all things woolly. Starting her wool journey with knitting as a teenager, Nikki has spent the last 20 years in the fibre world. She is passionate about the use of quality natural fibres in projects to enhance both the enjoyment of the creative process and the love of the finished object.
