Start date: 11th, 18th July and 8th August (Afternoons 2 pm - 4.30 pm)
Tutor: Sue De Villiers– experienced teacher & knitter
Age: Under 16's are welcome if attending with a parent or guardian
Join experienced practitioner and tutor Sue De Villiers for a friendly, hands‑on introduction to the craft of knitting. Whether you’re completely new or returning after a break, this three‑session course gives you all the skills you need to start (and finish!) your first project with confidence.
What’s included
All materials are supplied:
- · West Yorkshire Spinners Yarn - Retreat/ Retreat Twist or Colour Lab.
- · Lykke knitting needles
- · Printed pattern & guidance throughout
Plus tea/coffee and cake to keep you fuelled and cosy as you learn.
What You’ll Learn
Across three relaxed and supportive sessions, you’ll master the foundations of hand‑knitting:
- · Casting on
- · Casting off
- · Knit stitch
- · Purl stitch
- · Basic pattern reading
- · Simple finishing techniques
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to follow a beginner‑friendly pattern and complete a beautiful handmade scarf.
Choose Your First Project
You’ll work from one of two original patterns designed by Nikki Small:
- · The Clyd Scarf Pattern
- · The Clyd XL Scarf Pattern
Both patterns are perfect for beginners and create warm, stylish scarves you’ll be proud to wear or gift.
All yarn and needles are included, so you can get started straight away.
