Drum Carders

Drum carders are amazing devices! 

Whether you are wanting to process raw or cleaned wool so that you can spin it, or whether you are looking to create your own custom blends, these fabulous contraptions are so much fun to play with and make working with fibres a dream!

Ashford offers 5 different drum carders:

The Wild Drum Carder - The smallest of the range and designed to create small but perfect batts for spinning and felting. With a 10cm wide drum, you can card up to 40g of fibre at once. This little star is super-portable for creating blends on the move when you are away from home, at guild events etc. 

The 72pt Drum Carder - This is the next size up with a 19cm wide drum. This carder features two ratios to help you prepare your fleece or blend to the best finish. You can card up to 50g of fibre at any time, and like the name says, the carding cloth is 72pt. 

The Superfine Drum Carder - A similar size to the 72pt carder, the superfine carder is designed for fine, speciality fibre blending. With 120pt carding cloth, this is not for rough fibres,

The Wide Drum Carder - This carder will allow you to easily create 100g batts for spinning and felting. Featuring 72pt cloth and 2 ratios, this is the wide version of the 72pt carder, with an impressive 30cm drum width. Great for if you know you will be needing larger batts for bigger projects. 

E-Carder - This is the one we all wish we had! No more turning the drum by hand, simply feed the fibres in and let the e-carder do all the hard work for you! With the same 30cm wide width as the wide drum carder, this machine will happpily help you create 100g batts. It also features a foot peddle for instant 'on off' and has a built in reverse function for when you are removing your batts. 

All carders come complete with clamps, doffers and a packer brush for cleaning. 

Carders are not kept in stock, but are ordered in on request. Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery. Items that have to be ordered in specifically are non-refundable
