This sweater has been inspired by one of the most important species on our planet – the humble bee. We owe a lot of our existence to this wonderful little creature, and so I wanted to design something to celebrate it.

The sweater is made up of a mixture of colour work and cables, creating a sweater with a fun yet classic look that is comfortable and easy to wear. The honeycomb patterns along the sides of the body and sleeves add depth and interest to the design not only as a finished object, but whilst knitting as well.

£1 from the sale of each pattern will be donated to charities benefiting bees and other pollinators.

Yarn
The sweater uses DK weight yarn. The original yarn used for the design is no longer available but we have subsequently used Rowan Felted Tweed (which comes as 50g balls with 175m per ball).  The colours used were 193 Cumin, 145 Treacle, and 177 Clay.

The sweater is knitted top-down, with a colour work yoke and cable details on the sides of the body and outside of sleeves. The colour work sections are charted only.

There is a slight positive ease in the jumper to make it comfortable over layers.
